On Monday we presented our schematic design proposals to Wendell Burnette and two guest critics from the Washington University Faculty, Robert McCarter and Stephen Leet. In the morning, we also had William Frank, a Visual Arts MFA candidate here who has done a lot of work relating to the tall grass prairie. At this point in the semester we have each chosen a site in or adjacent to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and developed a schematic design. We presented our building concepts, first passes at experiential quality and materiality, and site strategies including arrival sequences, guest parking, service, and delivery. Based on our reviews, we will refine our projects through the weekend of April 9th, when we will return to Chase County to present our proposals to members of the community at the headquarters of Symphony in the Flint Hills in Cottonwood Falls.
